For most English people, the New Forest is a place where one goes to find some peace and relaxation, after yet another hectic week.
On a relatively small square of canvas, Syona manages to bring to life precisely that feeling of peace and relaxation. She deliberately skips the ponies. That would be too much of a stereotype for her. She focuses though not on static colour, but on vibrant movement. With a pond in the front, with a lot of green shades for the grass, the moors and the pine forest in the background, the focus is on a bunch of bees flying in frantic circles above this static landscape. Their buzzing is so present, so accurate, that it changes our perspective completely.
Artwork acclaimed at the “Royal Arts Prize 2020” VII. Edition, hosted in London by La Galleria Pall Mall and the Royal Opera Arcade (ROA) Gallery, from 20 to 29 February 2020.
